FRANKLIN (NBC 26) -- A 71-year-old man is dead following an early morning house fire Friday, Kewaunee County Sheriff Matthew Joski said.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Wochos Road in the town of Franklin.

The man has been identified as Stephen Voelker of Kewaunee.

Officials say the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. Several fire departments were on scene and used tenders to fight the fire.

Firefighters say one of the main struggles battling this fire was the cold.

"Everybody is just rotating," said Chief Jeff Chalupny with the Tish Mills Volunteer Fire Department. "We just keep rotating guys as fast as we can and go from there."

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Voelker's body was discovered in the rubble. The fire remains under investigation.
