ASHWAUBENON, Wis.(NBC26) -- Student Transportation of America has partnered with The National Association for Pupil Transportation. They say the school bus is 70 times safer than children walking, biking or riding to school in a car.

We spoke with the local affiliate of Student Transportation of America, the DairyLand Group and they say it's always a good time to remind people about bus safety.

The President of DairyLand Group, Mark Jordan says with the seasons changing it's important to stay alert as it can be more difficult to see kids at the bus stop. It's not as bright in the Wisconsin fall mornings so be sure to be aware of where children gather to ride the bus.

School buses also take away a lot of traffic and congestion in school zones and intersections by providing a safe ride for kids that would have had to take another type of transportation to get to school.
