OSHKOSH, Wis. — Oshkosh Police says it's making changes to the non-emergency phone service and the 2-5AM Parking procedures. The changes will take effect February 1st.

When people call the front desk of the police department (920) 236-5700, instead of speaking directly to an operator, they will encounter a phone menu and prompted to make a selection.

Police say the options are:

Press 1: To request copies of a police report or to make other open records requests
Press 2: For all matters related to parking
Press 3: To schedule an appointment for the release of property or evidence
Press 4: To file a report or to speak with an officer
Press 5: To speak with someone in the Criminal Investigation Division, including the Vice & Narcotics Unit, School Resource Officers, or Detectives
Press 6: For all other questions or requests
Press 9: To repeat these options

Oshkosh Police also says all requests for permission to park overnight on city streets will be handled through the webpage www.oshkoshpd.com. By selecting Menu option #2 when calling the non-emergency number, police say callers can receive additional information in regards to this.

Police say the "auto attendant" will allow the department to transfer calls more quickly.
