DE PERE — New and returning students are moving into to student housing this week at St. Norbert College. Some students say it's a popular weekend for people to walking throughout campus.

"It's really exciting to see everyone again," said Thomas Haywood, a senior. "It's fun to see people walking around, playing sports, it's great to see."

However, campus security are stressing students not go anywhere alone - especially late at night.

"The campus is a safe place, but don't be walking alone," said Eric Dunning the SNC campus safety director. "We have a very well lit campus, but when you go from building to building, have the buddy system."

Last September, authorities say a student was walking by herself around 3 a.m. when she was almost lured into a van by two strangers. She fought the strangers off, but Haywood says incidents like are one of the main reasons he walks in a group.

"If I am going somewhere with my friends, generally we are going in a pack," Haywood said. "That's just how we travel naturally so it's a little easier."

St. Norbert College also has campus escorts available so students don't have to walk anywhere by themselves.
