APPLETON, Wis. — The City of Appleton is running out of road salt.
"Our supplier notified us late last week that it is unable to deliver the remainder of our order for this winter," the City of Appleton says in a statement.
The city's public works currently has a limited supply of salt, so it will restricting use of salt to only the main roads, hills, and bridges.
"That means we will no longer be salting residential streets and the ice that does remain, will have to wait until the sun and warmer weather does the job," the city says in a Facebook post.
This restriction is likely for the remainder of winter, the city says. Appleton says it buys salt through a state contract that most other municipalities and counties also use.
