The Appleton Health Department received notice Friday of five additional residents testing positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 49 (5.6% of all tests).
According to a news release from the city of Appleton, there are currently 34 residents in isolation and 14 residents who had COVID-19 have been released from isolation. One resident has passed away from the virus.
Of the new cases, three (3) residents live in the Outagamie County portion of the city. Two (2) live in the Calumet County portion of the city. Two (2) cases were acquired through contact with individuals confirmed to have COVID-19. Two (2) cases were acquired through community spread. One (1) case remains under investigation. All of residents are in isolation.
The health department continues to investigate.
