APPLETON (NBC 26) -- Flying locally just became a lot safer. The Appleton International Airport says they've launched a rigorous improvement plan.

It's to help keep travelers safe and healthy. Parts of this plan include more self-sanitizing resources and touchless interaction key points.

“We have staff that are wiping down surfaces, we have santi-misting going on throughout the terminal multiple times a day focusing on touch point areas like counter tops, door handles, railings, and anywhere the customer would come in contact,” said Airport Director Abe Weber. “We've implemented social distancing measures, and there's decals on the floors, throughout the terminals, and building to keep people separated.”

The airport is requesting travelers wear face coverings in the terminal beginning Monday. They also note, most airlines require them while traveling on a plane.
