GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Metro Fire Department battled an apartment fire early Tuesday morning.
Crews responded to the 1800 block of August Street and found a small cooking fire in one of the units.
The fire was mostly extinguished by the occupant and crews were able to finish putting it out.
The person who lived there was taken to the hospital with non-severe injuries.
All 12 units of the apartment complex were evacuated so crews could clear smoke.
"Make sure that anyone cooking on a stove pays attention to it and make sure your smoke alarms are working," said Battalion Chief Robert Wiegert with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
There was minor damage to the unit where the fire happened and to the apartment next door.
