GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -

Agents will be out around Northeast Wisconsin on Thursday to enforce Halloween rules for registered sex offenders, according to Christopher Susa with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

Rules on Halloween for registered sex offenders on supervision include:

-Must remain in home from one hour before local trick-or-treating time through one hour after trick-or-treating
-Cannot show Halloween decorations
-Porch light must be off
-Cannot wear costumes
-Cannot hand out candy

Agents will make random stops during Thursday afternoon and evening to see if registered sex offenders are following those rules, Susa said. Violators could be taken into custody.

"If there's a house with the porch light off, the advice would be, don't go to that house," Susa said in reference to guidelines for those who are trick-or-treating.

Other tips include know who lives in trick-or-treat neighborhoods. Sex offenders can be looked up here.
