PLYMOUTH, Wis. — The search has been called off for a Sheboygan County man is missing after searching for his dog that jumped in river.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, the 63-year-old, Kevan McClintock was last seen near the Mullet River in downtown Plymouth around 12:30 on Thursday afternoon. Police identified the man in a Friday morning news release as Kevan McClintock.

Police said the man's dog had reportedly jumped into the river and he went to retrieve the animal. The dog was later found by a friend but McClintock remains missing.

The Plymouth Police Department says high water and fast currents made the search difficult and say continuing their search would compromise the safety of search and rescue teams.
