LAKE WINNEBAGO (NBC 26) -- Day nine marks the end to the second weekend of the 2020 sturgeon spearing season.

The Wisconsin DNR reports 41 fish were harvested in the Winnebago system, making Sunday the second highest daily harvest for the season. The largest fish of the day was 98.4 pounds and 70.2 inches registered at Payne's Point by Hunter Seelow.

The Upriver Lakes registered 25 fish, bringing their season total to 259 sturgeon caught. The largest fish registered was 87.1 pounds and 67.5 inches at Critter's by Zach Southard.

The Wisconsin DNR notes they will be closing several of their registration stations due to an anticipated drop in harvest. Stations set to close for the season include Waverly Beach, Quinney, Jerry's Bar, and Boom Bay.

People spearing on Lake Winnebago can still register their sturgeon at Stockbridge Harbor, Jim and Linda's in Pipe, Wendt's, and Payne's Point.

Those on Upriver Lakes can register their fish at either Critter's or Indian Point.
