APPLETON, Wis — APPLETON, Wis - For 38 years running now Appleton's Octoberfest has been drawing the crowds and bringing people out for good eats, good drinks and plenty of music.

On Saturday along a stretch of College Avenue in downtown Appleton the tradition continued as nearly 200,000 folks put on their best German apparel and all too many others just took in the good food and dancing. But what some don't realize about this event is that for many non-profits across the fox cities rely on this event as their biggest fundraiser of the year.

"It's a fundraiser for us, it's what pays our bills and we also support local charities and we give away everything we make. This kind of helps make that happen supporting the barbershop chorus," says Scott Finley of the Fox Valleyaires Men’s Barbershop Chorus.

If you missed Saturday’s event the good news is Appleton’s Octoberfest has been running for 38 years now so the odds are pretty good that you can put it on your list of things to do next year.
