The big win from the U.S. Women’s Hockey team is inspiring young women all over the country and right here in Northeast Wisconsin.
“It makes me want to work harder obviously, and just like push myself more,” said Ella Chilson, who is 14-years-old and a Forward.
The young women on the Bobcat Team at Cornerstone Community Center can't get enough of the amazing finish by Team USA.
“I learned a lot, so it was fun, yeah,” said Chilson.
“It's so exciting to know that people from Wisconsin can achieve such great things. It's so awesome,” said Claire Bradford, who is 13-years –old and plays defense.
Some of the players stayed up late to watch the game, with dreams of one day being in that same spot.
“They inspire me so much and it's so cool to watch them win after not winning for a while,” said Bradford.
A lot of the girls even practiced with Brianna Decker, one of the Wisconsin natives on Team USA. Decker visits every summer to develop these girls at a camp.
“I think it's something a lot of them have aspirations to be able to move on and play in the Olympics, who wouldn't want to do that? And I think it's fantastic that our girls to see that as something that's attainable for them,” said Andy Bradford, the USA Girls and Women's Section Director.
For all*of these girls it’s the first time they're seeing the U.S. women's hockey team win gold, using it as motivation to make their own dreams come true.
“It make me want to play more and work harder and stuff... and maybe like one day that can be me,” said Eliza Aitken, who is 13-years-old and a forward.
