Man in custody after SWAT situation in Neenah

UPDATE: Police say a woman who lived an an upper duplex came home around 8:40 p.m. and found an intruder inside. The man announced he had a gun.

The owner and her friend were able to escape and call police.

Around 12:13 a.m. Neenah Police Negotiators were able to establish phone contact with the suspect. He later surrendered peacefully. He was unharmed, but complained of a prior unrelated serious medical problem.

He was taken to ThedaCare Medical Center Neenah where he was cleared for booking.

The suspect is a 26-year-old Neenah man.

After investigating, police were not able to find a gun, and believe the suspect falsified that information.

Neenah Police have a subject in custody after an active situation in the 600 block of Maple Street Sunday night. 

Police say the subject was taken in without any injuries. 

Police will be on scene as they continue their investigation. 

Earlier in the night, police evacuated homes in the area. They say there is no longer a need for anyone to shelter. 

The public was not in danger during the situation.
