The names of two people killed in a crash in the Town of Oneida have been identified. 56-year-old Colleen Huben and her father 91-year-old Donald Huben, both from the Seymour area, died from their injuries in that crash.
Friday, along the road near County Highway EE and County Road E a cross sits as a somber reminder of the two lives lost.
"You lose two loved ones at this time of year everybody can understand that and have a terrible amount of empathy," said Staff Sergeant Ryan Carpenter of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies spending most of the day Friday interviewing friends and family of those involved to piece together what lead up to the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is examining both vehicles, but focusing more on the dump truck owned by Consciously Fresh Tree Service out of Appleton.
"He (dump truck driver) slowed down just prior to the intersection, so that tells us that it was very possible that he did not see the stop sign and by the time he noticed or realized that he had to stop it was too late," said Carpenter.
NBC26 reached out to the owner of the dump truck, but he declined to comment at this time.
Deputies say the State Patrol is investigating the truck to see if it had any weight violations or equipment malfunctions. Depending on what they find, it will determine what the driver of the dump truck could be fined with.
Deputies say that investigation could take several weeks to complete.
