Farmers asked to report winter storm damage

The CEO of the Green Bay-based American Dairy Coalition asked farmers to immediately submit to their Farm Service Agency office any damage reports from the recent winter storm.

“Time is of the essence,” American Dairy Coalition CEO Laurie Fischer said in a news release.

“Whether they are facing collapsed structures, lost milk production, high insurance deductibles, animal losses or other situations, farmers need to get their damages on the record with the local FSA office.  Just one phone call could have a big impact down the road.”

Damage totals will be sent to Gov. Scott Walker to use regarding any state or federal financial assistance.

Farmers are asked to consider not only immediate effects of damage, but long-term financial effects of the storm’s damage.

Damage reports could include collapsed building roofs, animal injuries, insurance deductibles, and lost milk.
