Downtown Appleton hosting 47th Annual Christmas Parade

It's a holiday tradition for many in the Fox Valley: the Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade.

The 47th annual parade will take place Thursday, November 21 at 6:55 p.m. in downtown Appleton. Prior to the parade, the Santa Scamper will take place at 6:45 p.m.

Because of construction in Jones Park, the route of the Santa Scamper has changed. It will start at State and College and follow College Ave to the east until it reaches N. Drew Street. It will end at City Park.

The parade will run on College Ave.

The following streets, along the parade staging area, will have restricted parking posted,
starting at 5:00 a.m. the day of the parade:

  • S. State Street (between W. Prospect Avenue and W. Lawrence Street)
  • W. Fourth Street (between S. Memorial Drive and S. Walnut Street)
  • W. Fifth Street (between S. Memorial Drive and S. Walnut Street)
  • W. Sixth Street (between S. Memorial Drive and S. Walnut Street)
  • W. Seventh Street (between S. Memorial Drive and S. Walnut Street)
  • W. Eighth Street (between S. Memorial Drive and S. Walnut Street)
  • N. Union Street (between E. Washington Street and E. North Street)
  • N. Bateman Street (between E. Pacific Street and E. North Street)
  • E. Eldorado Street (between N. Union Street and N. Lawe Street)
  • E. Franklin Street (between N. Drew Street and N. Lawe Street)

College Avenue will have a combination of "No Parking" and "Free Parking" bag on the meters along the parade route. All cars must be moved by 4 p.m. the day of the parade.

During the parade and run, the following streets will be closed to traffic (expect closure
to occur at 5:30 PM):

  • College Avenue (between S. Memorial Drive/N. Richmond Street and Lawe Street)
  • Oneida Street (south of College Avenue)
  • State Street, Walnut Street, Superior Street, Appleton Street, Morrison Street,
  • Durkee Street and Drew Street (south and north of College Avenue)
  • Division Street (north of W. College Avenue

Following the parade, the area around City Park is used for pick-up and tear-down
for parade participants and units. The following streets in that area will
experience higher than normal levels of traffic (these streets will also have restricted
parking before, during and after the event):

  • E. Franklin Street
  • N. Drew Street
  • N. Union Street
  • E. North Street
  • E. Eldorado Street
  • N. Bateman Street
