A newly released White House Coronavirus Task Force report shows Wisconsin is in the "red zone" for new COVID-19 cases.
The report, released Monday, showed Wisconsin had 825 new cases per 100,000 population, a large jump from the national average of 294 per 100,000 population.
"Intense community virus transmission" was seen throughout the state, the report said.
The state reported 4,389 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, a dip from the previous week's record-setting cases. In total, there were 316,758 positive cases reported statewide. More than 2,200 people are hospitalized, per the latest data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
According to the Task Force report, Milwaukee, Dane, and Waukesha counties had the highest number of new cases over the last three weeks, representing more than 27 percent of new cases in the state.
All of the counties in Wisconsin also showed moderate levels of community transmission of the virus, the report said.
"We share the strong judgment of Wisconsin leaders that the current situation is critical and that additional measures can limit further cases, hospitalizations, and deaths," the report said. "The governor’s continued efforts and communication to the public on these measures is crucial and is commended."
