APPLETON (NBC 26) -- The Appleton Health Department reports another resident has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 16.
According to the department, the person lives in the Outagamie County portion of the city and is in isolation. They say this person contacted the virus through contact with another person who was confirmed to have coronavirus.
The health department is conducting an investigation to identify and follow-up with any people who had contact with the new individual. Those who they think had close interactions with this person will be contacted.
Local health officials say there is currently nine residents in isolation, six who have recovered, and one who has passed due to the virus.
While the number of positive cases continue to rise, the department says there are still more cases in Appleton which have not been confirmed. They are asking everyone to continue to follow the Safer at Home emergency order by following guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and CDC to help slow the spread of the virus.
