A woman, a teenager and three children have been displaced after a fire in Two Rivers.
Crews were called to the home on 13th Street around 7 a.m. Thursday. A woman escaped, along with a 19-year-old, 13-year-old, 3-year-old and 11-month-old, according to the Two Rivers Fire Department.
The fire started in the basement, the fire department said. Those in the house heard the smoke detector and tried to put the fire out with water before evacuating, crews said.
Two pets, a small dog and a lizard, also made it out.
The fire caused about $10,000 worth of damage. The cause is still under investigation.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
