Local and state leaders were in Grand Chute Thursday for the grand opening of the new Grand View Townhomes affordable housing development.

The more than $7 million project will help homeless families and those in need of affordable housing in the Fox Valley.

"We have had a lot of people that have been pressed out of the workforce that are trying to get back in," said Brian Schimming with the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. "We can give them a helping hand."

One woman who is moving into the development calls it a "God send."

I was living at Homeless Connections for five months and just soul searching," said Beth Braun. "I just found the perfect place at the right time. This is my new home."

The development has 40 residential units in two buildings. The townhomes have private unit entries and some private garages.

Grand View will feature one, two and three bedroom units with a range of income affordability.
