BERLIN, Wis. — A 32-year-old Berlin man is dead after crashing into a building in Green Lake County, according to a news release from the Berlin Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 100 block of West Ceresco Street around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. When first responders arrived, they found the driver trapped inside a pickup truck that had struck the side of a building and then a retaining wall.
Officers and a passing driver extricated the driver from the vehicle and provided immediate first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Initially, it appears that high speed and alcohol were potential causes for the crash," Chief Dennis Plantz said in the news release.
Police are not releasing the name of the driver at this time.
Personnel from the Berlin Police Department, Green Lake County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol all responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
