A 14-year-old passenger remains in critical condition at a local hospital following a two vehicle crash that happened at the intersection of county highways GG and Z at about 11:50 a.m. Monday in the town of Buchanan, according to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
A passenger vehicle traveling north on County Highway GG failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a pickup truck traveling westbound on County Highway Z.
Other occupants of the passenger vehicle have been released from area hospitals, and the driver of the pickup truck was treated and released after the crash. The 16-year-old driver of the car is from Little Chute and the four teenage passengers are from Kaukauna. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
The Sheriff’s Department will not release names of those involved to respect their privacy.
The department said the incident serves as a reminder that all must be active in speaking with teenagers about driving safely and being responsible. Drivers are faced with many distractions and teenagers are susceptible to these distractions.
