FOX CITIES, WIS — Across the Fox Cities there are businesses springing up all over the place ranging from hotels, to restaurants, to even retail stores. Tonight NBC26 found out what the driving force is behind the economic boom that's taking place.

Within less than a year the Fox Cities will have four new hotels and nearly a dozen new restaurants. And this news comes on the heels of a record setting 2018 for businesses in the area leasing buildings, for operations.

Leaders at the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce say that 2019 is shaping up to be great for the region. They say businesses like hotels and restaurants are flocking to the area right now because of the economic potential here and the fact that the Fox Cities Exhibition Center and Fox Cities Convention Center are expected to bring a lot of business to the area.

“They’re driving a lot of visitor spending. So visitors in 2018 in the Fox Cities spent 493 million dollars. The number one spending was on food and beverage so those restaurants and hotels are really driving a lot or economic activity in the area,” says Pan Seidl of the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau.
