MANITOWOC — Seeking to incentivize people to move to Manitowoc, the city is offering a down payment assistance program.

Part of the city’s Healthy Neighborhood Initiative, 5422Home is designed to promote home ownership pride in Manitowoc and is eligible to first time home buyers and buyers new to the area. Eligible participants seeking to purchase property within the program area could receive a 5-year forgivable loan up to $5,000 as down payment assistance.

The program is intended to help local businesses recruit new employees and assist newer families to our area for their first home purchase, according to Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels.
