ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — Police in Ashwaubenon say it was more than slippery roads that landed couple in a ditch during Monday’s snowstorm.

At around 3:20 pm Monday, Ashwaubenon Public Safety says officers responded to a pickup truck in the ditch on Ashland Ave near Baeten Rd.

When officers arrived, police say they found a 27-year-old man without a pulse and not breathing. Police say a bystander was doing CPR on him in the deep snow. A Public Safety Officer took over CPR until EMS arrived.

A 29-year-old woman was also in the truck and was not responsive.

Police say the couple had been using heroin while on the roadway.

The man was eventually arrested for OWI, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of Heroin and a Probation/ Parole Warrant.

The woman was subsequently arrested for Possession of Heroin and 1st Degree Reckless Injury.

Police say they are both in the Brown County Jail awaiting their first court appearance on these charges.
