In a letter to parents, the Principal at East High School in Green Bay said the school was placed under a precautionary lockdown Monday afternoon over concerns about a student who may have had a weapon.

The principal says police found the student and the "secure the building" measure was lifted.

Parents received this letter Monday:

Dear East Families:

Earlier today East High School was placed under “secure the building - outside situation” while the District and law enforcement investigated an unsubstantiated threat. A report was made that an East student (who was not in attendance today) may have possession of a weapon and had mentioned bringing it to school. The police were able to locate the student and “secure the building” was removed.

Student and staff safety is and will continue to be our highest priority. As always, parents and students are encouraged that if they see or hear something, to say something. We appreciate your understanding of these matters and continued support of our East Family.

Sincerely,

Lori Frerk, Principal
