The National Hockey League is the latest to postpone its season amid concerns of coronavirus, ESPN reports.

The United States Hockey League also announced Thursday its decision to suspend game play effective immediately and until further notice, which will suspend the season for the Green Bay Gamblers.

Earlier in the day, the NHL advised teams not to have morning skates, practices or team meetings.

The NHL's decision comes one day after the NBA suspended its season when a Utah Jazz player tested positive for the illness.

Major League Soccer has also suspended its season and other organizations are still holding events, but without fans present.

There has been no word as to whether or not any NHL players or staff have the virus.

The USHL decision was unanimously made by its Board of Directors, which stated in a press release that they have the best interest of USHL athletes, staff, officials and fans in mind.

All hockey activities, including practices, workouts and meetings have also been been suspended until further notice. The league said it continues to closely monitor the situation and will use this hiatus to determine next steps regarding the 2019-20 season.
