Waupaca Police Department arrested a 17-year-old boy for alleged terrorist threats as a result of an investigation that began Sunday, Sept. 15 for a possible threat to Waupaca High School.
The suspect is Dominick E. Silva, who had a signature bond of $5,000 set on Tuesday, according to online court records. A signature bond does not require any upfront cash, but instead is a promise to appear in court with a penalty amount set for failure to appear in court.
Silva was not in jail as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a jail official said. An attorney was not listed for Silva in online court records.
The investigation began Sunday after authorities received a report that Silva was "telling people he was going to bring a gun to the Waupaca High School," according to court documents.
Authorities contacted Silva, who said he "had talked about killing people at school," court documents state.
"Dominick stated he was not serious and did not have access to firearms," according to charges.
Authorities found eight knives in Dominick's room but no firearms, and the teen's father said all firearms were accounted for, according to charges.
The Waupaca Police Department is being assisted by the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources with increased security at school district buildings, according to a police department press release.
