Pregame story

It's the battle to be America's Team. But more importantly, it's a game that could have major implications in the NFC playoff race.

The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys come into their contest as a combined 7-2 - but one team is discovering itself, while the other is still searching for its best.

The Packers still have not reached their peak in the passing game - the best quarterback in football when he's at his best, Aaron Rodgers, with receivers in Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams who each have the skill set to make big plays.

Big plays that have not been there this year, despite a top-level offensive line.

There are also questions on whether the running game will reach effectiveness with injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks.

Defensively, the matchups to watch involve Dallas' running game, the best in football, against Green Bay's all-world run defense, the best in the sport so far this year.

It's matchups like these that appear to give this game big time luster - something this matchup has had for decades. Green Bay currently owns a five-game winning streak on the Cowboys, the so-called "America's Team."

We'll see if it reaches six. Stay tuned.
