As debate continues over the Senate health care bill, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) stood strong Friday in his decision not to vote for the bill as written.

Sen. Johnson sat down with NBC26 Friday morning and said he's pushing back on what he calls an "artificial deadline" because he needs more time to make an informed decision.

Sen. Johnson is among a small group of Republican senators who announced their opposition to the bill after it was made public Thursday.

He said Medicaid funding is unfair because states with successful programs receive less money from the federal government than states with failing ones.

Sen. Johnson wants a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, but he said this new legislation is being rushed through the Senate.

"I need enough time, Wisconsinites need enough time to evaluate the bill, to provide feedback to members of Congress," Sen. Johnson said. "I'm making a lot of calls [Friday, Saturday], Sunday reviewing the bill, I just think I'll need more time to do the due diligence to make an informed vote in getting the yes."

The Congressional Budget Office will release its analysis of the bill next week. A report by the CBO project 23 million more people would be uninsured by 2026 than today.
