The busy holiday shopping season is just a couple of weeks away, and Green Bay Police is working with area stores to make it a safe one.

The Department met today to craft a plan to make sure accidents don't happen, especially during the rush on Black Friday.

Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith, says, "We see stores that don't time the opening right and too many people trying to get into a store at one time and sometimes there's a crush. We've seen it across the country where people are injured . people that get in fights over products during heavy shopping days. We want to make sure we're doing everything we can to prevent that."

According to the Department, theft is the number one crime in Green Bay, with thefts from cars in mall parking lots are also a problem.

The Department has created a website for people to record serial numbers and descriptions of their valuables in case they go missing or are stolen. Police say the website will help them track the items down and get them to their righful owner.
