The Green Bay City Council decided Tuesday to delay funding for the Brown County expo center to hold a special meeting with the Redevelopment Authority to discuss using tax money to fund the new expo center.

The proposed plan is to use room taxes from 2030 to 2050 to pay off the expo center. The Redevelopment Authority is concerned there won't be enough money left over to pay for upgrades to the KI Convention Center.

Aldermen Joe Moore wanted to send the plan back to the Redevelopment Authority while Alderman David Nenning agreed with the concerns. Alderman Guy Zima suggested to hold a special meeting with the Redevelopment Authority.

"They need to be with the council and we got to be discussing this together, so they understand how the council supports it, and why they should be supporting what their elected representatives voted for." said District 9 Aldrman, Guy Zima.

A date has not been set yet. Mayor Schmidt will decide with the chairman of the Redevelopment Authority.

The City Council unanimously approved a plan to refurbish the pool, replace its mechanical system and upgrade the pool building.

Funding for the renovations have been in debate for months. The renovations would cost more than $5M. The plan now needs to be approved by Mayor Jim Schmitt.

Bay Beach Amusement Park is another step closer to getting a new Ferris wheel. The plan to install a new Ferris wheel double the size of the current one was approved by the City Council Tuesday.

The Ferris wheel would cost more than $2M which will be paid for by private donations. The Parks Committee hopes to have it built by 2019, if it's approved by Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt.
