The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office responded to a plane that was forced to make an emergency landing near Highway 10 eastbound at Highway 76.

No one was hurt, according to deputies on scene, and the pilot.

The pilot said there were three people in the plane, a 172 K model Cessna, when he blew a cylinder in the air.

With his son, and son's girlfriend on board, the pilot said he followed emergency procedures and landed on U.S Highway 10, and used the Highway 76 off ramp to slow down.

The plane clipped a highway sign with left wing, causing minor damage.

"It's going to take the whole highway up," explains two truck operator Scott Recker, after the plane was loaded onto the flatbed. "So, we're going to have two police cars in the front, and one in the back to stop the traffic, and hopefully we get by these two signs right here, and everything will be ok."

According to the pilot, the plane engine apparently has just 400 hours on it.

For now, the pilot says the plane is heading to his hangar where he'll assess damage.
