Posted
The streets of Green Bay will be closed to traffic and open to fitness fun on Saturday, July 16 when the 4th Annual Aurora BayCare Open Streets event takes place in downtown Green Bay. The event’s six activity zones will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., extending along Dousman Street from Fisk Park to the City Deck.

All lanes will be closed to motorists and “open” to bicyclists, walkers, runners, roller-bladers and other modes of active transportation. The event is free and open to the public without registration.

The Fit Fest activity zone at Leicht Memorial Park is a partnership of Aurora BayCare and the City of Green Bay Parks & Recreation Department. It will feature 30 booths with experts from a range of health and fitness professionals to offer tips, products and ways to help you live well. Visitors to Fit Fest will also have the opportunity to try Zumba and Tai chi.

Other zones will focus on safety, music and dance, family fun, nature and kids’ activities. A complete list of activity zones and Fit Fest vendors is available online at www.OpenStreetsGreenBay.com.

In addition to Fit Fest, this year’s event will feature these themed activity zones:

And the water jets of the City Deck splash pad are always fun for kids.

Aurora BayCare Open Streets visitors are encouraged to start their day at the Info Hub area situated at the center of the Main Street (Ray Nitschke) bridge. Kids can pick up “passports” here that they have stamped at all of the zones mentioned above. If they get stamps from four of the zones, they receive a free T-Shirt and enter into a drawing for a free bicycle, provided by Stadium Bike.
