Wis. school district investigates threat made on Minecraft

CEDARBURG, WI — A suspect has been detained, accused of making a threat against a Wisconsin school district on Minecraft.

The Cedarburg School District is investigating after a threat was made against the high school through the online gaming network on Jan. 4.

The district said the threat originated in Missouri. Law enforcement in Missouri identified and detained a suspect.

School routines will remain normal for students and staff, but there will be an increased police presence before, during and after school.

The district operates a SpeakUp Safety Tipline, where students can report threats of violence.

The incident remains under investigation.
