St. Norbert putting up new sculpture on campus

Posted

St. Norbert College has started work on a new addition to campus.

A sculpture featuring St. Norbert will be at the corner of 3rd and Reid Streets. The sculptor, from Colorado Springs, is supervising the set up.

The sculpture will depict St. Norbert being thrown from his house. In the year 1115, according to tradition, Norbert of Xanten was on his way to a town in Germany when he was struck by lightning. He was stunned and thrown to the ground.

The tradition says when he recovered, he heard words from Psalm 34: "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it."

The sculpture is a gift of Miriam B. and James J. Mulva.
