Two people are without a home after fire in Sheboygan early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to Alabama Avenue around 6:34 a.m. Crews found flames on the first floor and quickly extinguished the fire.
Nobody was hurt in the fire, but one cat was rescued from the second floor apartment.
"Knowing that no one was injured, that both tenants were out, that was very important to us. We were very thankful for that," said David Ottensmann, next-door neighbor.
Ottensman says a neighbor gave one of the victims a sweatshirt.
The American Red Cross is also helping the victims with housing and some money to get by.
"He was almost in tears. We're so glad to help him out. We got him secured and he's all set," said Bob Wenger, American Red Cross.
Seven firefighting units limited the damage, thanks in part to taking only about 30 minutes from the time the alarm came in until they were able to put out the fire.
"A fire load that's in these bathrooms and these houses like this, it doesn't take long for that to spread, so that five minute response is really a pretty good response," said Roger Saeger, Sheboygan Fire Department.
Investigators estimate the fire caused $45,000 in damages.
Firefighters say it was an electrical fire, but they say the department doesn't know the specific cause.
