Green Bay police say officers responded to a call about a man yelling from the balcony of his residence in the 1300 block of Lawe Street around 1:23 am.
When officers were walking to the residence they heard at least one gunshot and saw a muzzle flash. The officers then took cover as the man went back inside the apartment. It is unknown if the gunshot was directed at the officers or in a different direction.
Officers tried to make contact with the man several times but, were not successful.
The 36-year-old man did not comply with the SWAT team's orders and tear gas was used to get the man to come out of the house. The man was then arrested without incident.
A downstairs neighbor tells NBC26 around 1:00 a.m. he heard violent noises and called the police. He goes on to say the man quieted down some before police arrived and once officers arrived the man got loud again.
"Some violent yelling and things like that, some cursing it sounded like he was yelling at someone," explained Troy Lee who lives downstairs from the man arrested.
The neighbor says the situation was nerve-wracking and scary.
The neighbor says his fiancee and 4-month-old child were evacuated through their backdoor by the SWAT team early Friday morning.
They could not get back into their house until around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning, once all the tear gas used to get the suspect to leave his residence had been aired out.
Neighbors describe the suspect as someone who got "rowdy" on the weekends.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. Officers are referring several charges to the District Attorney's office including first degree recklessly endangering safety, intoxicated person in possession of a fire arm, failure to comply with officers, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
According to the Brown County District Attorney's office that man is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
