GREEN BAY, Wis. — One week after a series of powerful storms ripped through northeast Wisconsin and thousands of customers are still without power.

According to Wisconsin Public Service, about 3,000 customers still do not have power. Emergency management is still working around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible.

W.P.S. says the estimated cost for the public is about $2.3 million. However, many counties have not yet reported their damage costs so that number is expected to rise.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is warning property owners to be on the lookout for traveling contractors who may try to take advantage of the situation.

Property owners are being urged to see trusted contractors for repairs. They're also warning property owners to be leery of the so-called "storm chasers" that come knocking at your door with aggressive sales tactics.

For additional information or to file a complaint, visit the Consumer Protection Bureau or call 800-422-7128.
