PILSEN, Wis. (NBC26) -- The most wonderful time of year is almost here! It's a family tradition for many to take the day to head out to your favorite local tree farm and pick the perfect tree to decorate your home this holiday season.

The Aissen Family Tree Farm located just off of Highway 29 in Kewaunee County hosted an open house for their gift shop this past weekend. The shop is full of more than 50 decorated trees with new ornaments every year! Visitors can add a new ornament to their collection and they can also get a wreath now or place an order for a custom wreath, but trees are not available just yet. The weekend before Thanksgiving the family opens the field for "cut-your-own" and pre-cut trees. The recent cold and snow already collecting in most of Northeast Wisconsin has put some people in the Christmas spirit early!

"We've had our phones ringing off the hook, it's a short season so a lot of people what to start decorating now." said Skyla Aissen.

There are so many tips and tricks for keeping a tree a vibrant green up until Christmas, but the Aissen's share some simple tips to keep in mind to keep the season bright!

-Indoor Wreath are beautiful and if they're fraser fir, then they won't drop needles everywhere.
-If you don't put your tree up right away, you can store your tree in a garage, but place it on the north side of the building.
-Do not place your tree on concrete flooring otherwise the tree will dry out.
-Keep up with watering your tree. It can drink up to a gallon a day. This will help it from drying out.
