Celebrate Water Door County kicks off Tuesday. It highlights the need to protect fresh water here in Northeast Wisconsin. One of their first events includes a special guest, world renowned cave diver Jill Heinerth. Heinerth also has her own program highlighting the needs to protect fresh water called, “We Are Water."

Heinerth is a veteran cave diver with over thirty years of filming, photography and exploration experience on projects in submerged caves around the world. She has worked with National Geographic, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as well as various educational institutions and television networks worldwide.

She is the inaugural Explorer in Residence for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. She was also a recipient of Canada’s prestigious Polar Medal, which is world’s highest award from the Academy of Underwater Arts and Sciences, the NOGI. Heinerth is a corporate speaker. She will also be releasing her memoir, “Into The Planet,” this August with Harper Collins Publishers.

Jill Heinerth will speak about her experiences Tuesday night at the Celebrate Water Summit. The presentation will be held at the Door County Auditorium in Fish Creek at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but donations to Celebrate Water are encouraged.
