A fire engulfed a house on the 5700 block of County Road R in Rockwood on Sunday afternoon.
The Rockwood Volunteer Fire Department’s chief says the stairs of the house was destroyed, so firefighters had to break the upstairs windows to battle flames at the top level. The chief says woman was home but was able to get out unharmed.
More than 50 firefighters from more than a half-dozen departments assisted in fighting the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
