Brown County Republicans celebrate Trump's victory

Posted

For the first time since 1984, Wisconsin's electoral votes went to a Republican. On Wednesday, the GOP party in Brown County celebrated Trump's win, saying they're ready for a change in the country.

Trump supporters said they're not surprised the Republican nominee performed well in Northeast Wisconsin and ultimately won the state after making five campaign stops since the April primary.

Trump earned 53% of the vote in Brown County versus Clinton's 42%.

"Hillary Clinton did represent the same old and a continuation of Obama's policies, and that was number one," said Marian Krumberger, Chair of the Republican Party of Brown County. "Secondly, as a candidate, there were serious concerns about her integrity."

Krumberger also complimented President Obama and Hillary Clinton on their message of unity Wednesday, and said she hopes that can continue throughout Trump's presidency.

"Our races are over, we are now back to one country and I think it's important we get together and move forward to work together to make the country better," said Krumberger.

The Republican Party of Brown County also benefited from Trump's popularity: the party grew by one-third over the course of the election, according to Krumberger.
