A suspicious incident reported by Oshkosh Police lead the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to issue a community-wide safety alert Saturday night.

Police report that a woman said a group of 7 or 8 white men in dark clothing were chasing her while yelling at her in the 700 block of Wisconsin Street.

At one point, she went into JT's Wash n Mart to purchase items and the men followed her inside. When she left they got into a dark colored SUV, similar to a Cadillac Escalade, and continued to follow her slowly before driving away.

Police say the woman was not harmed in the incident, and the motivation behind it is unclear.

It happened in very close proximity to the UWO campus, which is why school leaders decided to issue the alert. The woman involved is not a student there, but the 700 block of Wisconsin Street is heavily populated with young people who are students, and live and walk frequently in the area.

If you have any information in this case, you should contact the Oshkosh Police Department at 920-236-5700 or Winnebago County Crimestoppers at 920-231-8477.
