Tornado touches down on east side of Madison, Sun Prairie

The National Weather Service has ranked Saturday's tornado in Madison an EF-0 with winds of 70-80 mph. The tornado touched down at 4:59 p.m. around 1st Street and East Washington Ave., or Highway 151 and traveled northeast for 4.2 miles. The tornado lifted at the I-39/90 interstate at 5:06 p.m. The tornado had an estimated width of 50-100 yards

Law enforcement and the National Weather Service are confirming a tornado touched down on the east side of Madison around 5:00 p.m. then moved northeast to Sun Prairie.

Parts of Columbia, Dane and Dodge counties were under a tornado warning from 5:21 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Several reports of tree and roof damage in the area. There have been no reports of injuries so far from the storm.
