The Dallas-Green Bay series is tied at 16 wins each with the Packers having won the last four, including a 26-21 NFC Divisional playoff game in Lambeau Field last January.
The last time the Cowboys played in Green Bay in December: the Ice Bowl, December 31st, 1967.
These clubs are a far cry from where they were a year ago at this time. Both were ascending on their way to division titles behind big time offenses.
Both sides have struggled offensively this season, but both have post-season opportunity. In mid-December, as the players say, that’s all you can ask for.
The Cowboys, at 4-8, have the worst record in NFL history by a team just one game out of first place in their division after 13 weeks!
The Packers are currently the No. 3 seed in the NFC, but they are just 2-4 after a 6-0 start, and have lost two in a row at home. They have never lost three straight home games with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback!
Quarterback production could be a big difference in this game. The combined numbers of the Dallas signal callers this season don’t measure up to Aaron Rodgers stats:
Dallas QB's: 228.8 yards passing/game, 12 TD's, 14 Interceptions, 82.5 Passer Rating
Rodgers: 246.4 yards passing/game, 26 TD's, 5 Interceptions, 97.3 Passer Rating
How strange is this season? The Green Bay defense ranks better in scoring 6th (19.8 PPG) than the usually potent Packers offense 12th (24.1 PPG).
The Packers have only finished one season (2010) in the Aaron Rodgers era with a better scoring defense than scoring offense. By the way, the Packers won Super Bowl XLV that season.
