According to Packers spokesperson Aaron Popkey, the Wi-Fi connection temporarily went down at Lambeau Field Sunday before the playoff game with the New York Giants.
Popkey tells NBC26 the scanners were connected to the Wi-Fi, and stopped working. This resulted in longer than normal lines for many fans at the ticket gates.
A line outside Lambeau's ticket gates on game day is nothing unusual.
"We got here in plenty of time," says Packer fan Jake Harvey, "and we're in this huge line."
But as the lines kept growing, Packer fans like James Shomin were noticing the difference.
"I've never been back this far. Usually you're up where everybody else is when you start," says Shomin near the Shopko gate, "typically it's moving a little bit quicker. Usually you're moving.. at least 10 steps every 2 minutes."
For some fans the added wait was hard to quantify.
"Oh my gosh, it's bananas times longer, I mean, it's so longer than when compared to usual," says a flustered Lauren Wilhelm. "I mean, normally, every time we go to the gate, we've been able to walk right up to the gate."
Packers spokespeople say the Wi-Fi was down when gates opened at 1:40.
After 15 minutes without service and no working scanners, they were forced to tear tickets by hand.
"That sucks," adds Shomin, "because it's really cold outside!"
Scanners and Wi-Fi were running again before game time.
