Two Green Bay hospitals have been recognized for their efforts with tissue donation.
The American Tissue Services Foundation recognized HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center for their tissue donation efforts, which helped nearly 2,725 recipients combined in 2016.
HSHS St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center had a 55% tissue donation rate last year, meaning they were able to recover tissue from 55% of eligible donors. That rate was 41% at HSHS St. Vincent.
"One donor can save over 75 lives, so that was over 1,900 patients that can be touched by the gift of donation," said Kim Franzen, organ liaison at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital.
