Green Bay Police have located and arrested an Ellsworth Correctional Facility inmate escapee who has been missing since April 20.

While on scene, officers were able to gain consent into an apartment with the goal of locating Christine Abel. Abel attempted to hide and conceal herself after multiple attempts for her to comply. The Department K9 Roco, K9 Officer Clark and with the assistance of other officers and investigators located Abel and took her into custody.

“When criminals come to Green Bay, we will spare no resource, staff or equipment to catch them and bring them to justice. Thank you to everyone that spent hours investigating, locating, and apprehending Ms. Abel. We will forever be committed to ridding the community of criminals and disorder," Police Chief Andrew Smith said in a statement.

There is a heavy police presence in the 500 block of North Norwood Avenue on Green Bay's west side.

Police say the SWAT team has been deployed due to the active investigation.

Police say they were looking for Christine Abel, an Ellsworth Correctional Facility inmate escapee who has been missing since April 20. They did not find her in the house they entered.
